Message From the AMB President (5/05/08)

Hey Gang,

I trust everyone has now recuperated from the Spring Nats. Talk about a barn burner… In two action packed days of racing we managed to squeeze in 168 heats, 2 run-offs, and the most exciting Twin Shootout finale in AMB history! I want to personally thank each and every person that participated in the 2008 Spring Nationals. I would also like to extend a debt of gratitude to our sponsors. We had some really nice raffle prizes this year. Looking over the results I noticed the AMB’s were very well represented in the final standings. Congratulations to the winners… If you went hope with a trophy from this one, you definitely deserved it. AMB’s placed in the following classes:

LSG 23-30 RIGGER
1st Lamar Huff

2nd Wes Young

LSG 23-30 MONO
3rd Norman Morton

LSG 23-30 CAT
3rd Michael Whitley

OPEN TUNNEL
3rd Norman Morton

LSG CRACKERBOX
1st Lamar Huff
2nd Scott Huff
3rd Norman Morton

LS27 SPORT HYDRO
3rd Lamar Huff

OPEN OFFSHORE
2nd Scott Huff
3rd Matt Gunn

CONGRATULATIONS to AMB member Doug Smock. While we were banging sides and inhaling Nitro fumes in Atlanta, Doug was participating in the FE Straightaway time trials down in Valdosta, GA. Doug did us proud by establishing 3 new records over the course of the weekend.

P-Mono = 73 MPH

Q-Mono = 77 MPH

S-Mono = 74 MPH

Thanks,

Hey Gang,

The dates have been set for all 2008 AMB Events.

April 19 & 20 Spring Nationals

July 19 & 20 Atlanta Grand Prix

September 13 & 14 GA Championships

The 2007 Race Season was a fine one indeed here in DXIII. The Spring Nationals saw yet another Record Breaking turn out. The drought forced changes to the Grand Prix schedule with the SOWEGA gang holding two of their events on the Atlanta pond. 2007 also saw the introduction of Fast Electric to the Grand Prix roster with Doug Smock and the Atlanta Amp Hogs impressing everyone with their battery powered craft.

2008 is shaping up to be another barn burner. Fellow DXIII member club CMB and their 2008 World Tunnel Champs in Charleston is already sold out with over 260 tunnels signed up to do battle. The 2008 Spring Nationals are already off to a fierce start with over 75 entrants and 200 boats signing up in the first 6 days. We firmly believe the Spring Nats will see over 90 entrants and 300 boats this year.

2008 has already seen a change in leadership with Jim Ragan from the SOWEGA model boaters taking over for former District Director Bobby Halliday. Atlanta's own Norman Morton and CMB President Mark Poole will assume Assistant District Director duties for the 08 season.

In closing I would just like to personally thank everyone that came out to support our events during the 07 season. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and look forward to another competitive season of racing here in Atlanta! See you @ the pond…

Thanks,
Lamar Huff

Message From the AMB President (11/01/06)

Hey Gang,

By the time you read this the 2006 racing season here in DXIII will have drawn to a close.  I just want to take this opportunity to thank each and every racer that participated in one of our events this year.  We sincerely appreciate your support and we look forward to another season of ultra-competitive racing in 2007.

The final Club Race of the year was held on October 15th, 2006.  Club Race Champions were crowned in the following classes:

  • Crackerbox = Lamar Huff
  • Gas Mono = Lamar Huff
  • Gas Cat = Romano Scott (aka "Bo")
  • Sport Hydro = Norman Morton
  • Open Offshore = Don Huff

Congrats to all of the 2006 AMB Club Race Champions.  The Club Race series will return for the 2007 season.  We have also elected two Race Coordinators for 2007; Don Kilgore & Peter Bohdan will be responsible for a lot of the "behind the scenes" activities that go into putting on a successful event.

We have designated CD's for our two main events next season.  Don Huff will be the CD for the 2007 AMB SPRING NATS and Dan Warrick will be handling the CD duties for the 2007 GA CHAMPS.  Dates have not been set for either event @ this time.  Dates for all 2007 AMB activities will be posted in the near future.

    Thanks,
    Lamar Huff
